LAUSD presents a 3-part Parenting Series on

ADHD and Learning Disabilities

 

presented by Kevin Mottus, LCSW with LAUSD’s School Mental Health

 

June 3 - Part I: Emotional issues and Motivation related to learning differences

 

June 10 - Part II:  Characteristics of ADHD, Rule Outs and Interventions

DSALA Faery Hunt

Sunday, May  18th,  2008 from 11:00am - 1:15pm

Corrigan Park, Simi Valley

Admission: $5 for anyone over age 2 (a 50% discount), no charge for faery hunters with DS

THE EVENT

 11:00 Eat your picnic lunch (bring your own) 

12:00 Group photo
  12:15 Faery Hunt with 9 faery actors to entertain us all


This will be a wonderful event for all ages and a nice opportunity to bring you child’s siblings, cousins and friends. Faery attire is welcome. Bring out your wings, wands, flower head wreaths,
elf hats, mad hatter hats, etc. This will be the photo op of the year!

Directions: Take the 118 Freeway West through the Santa Susana Pass to Simi Valley. Exit Kuehner Drive (first exit in Simi) and go South (left). At Smith Road turn left and drive straight to the park.

You can pay DSALA at the event, but you must reserve your space with the DSALA Office prior. Respond with your family’s name and number of adults (18 and over) and number of children who will join our group reservation. Give the full name of anyone with DS to request a raffle ticket.

Win a $50 gift card to Target. The drawing will take place right after the group photo and the winner must be present (we are sure that you have figured this is a ploy to get you there on time). The drawing is for our members with DS who have requested a ticket with their RSVP.

Parent Effectiveness Training

Sponsored by the Family Focus Resource and Empowerment Center,  this 8-week session starts Thurs., April 3rd, 7 - 10 p.m. at Calif. State University Northridge, 18111 Nordhoff St., Northridge in the Education Bldg., room 1214. Cost: $150 person. You will learn how to talk to your children so that they will listen to you, listen to your children so that they feel genuinely understood, resolve conflicts and problems, how to troubleshoot family problems, and more.
